The drought in South Dakota continues to have an impact on corn and soybean condition ratings.

According to the USDA’s latest crop progress report only 24 percent of the state’s corn crop is rated good-to-excellent.  Corn silking is one percent behind last year at 97 percent and 69 percent of the crop is in the dough stage with 12 percent dented.

Twenty-two percent of soybeans are called good-to-excellent with 96 percent of the crop blooming.  85 percent have set pods – that’s four percent ahead of last year and six percent have dropped leaves.
