Last week’s scattered showers helped many crops. USDA reporters say 67% of the state’s topsoil has adequate moisture, with 13% surplus, 13% short, and 7% very short.
More than 60% of Wisconsin’s corn is in the dough stage with 97% of the corn silking. Eighty percent of the corn is in good to excellent condition which is 3% better than last week.
Ninety-seven percent of the state’s soybeans are blooming with 83% setting pods. Some USDA reporters said some beans were beginning to color. Seventy-seven percent of the crop is rated good to excellent, which is also up 3% from a week ago.
