Heavy rain (4 to 8 inches or more) associated with Tropical system Fred will continue to spread northward, resulting in possible flooding as far north as the southern and central Appalachians. Although Fred’s primary threat will be flooding, other South-eastern impacts could include spotty wind damage, and isolated tornadoes. In parts of the eastern U.S., extending as far north as southern New England, tropical rainfall will be enhanced by Fred’s interaction with a cold front.
