At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle were higher and feeder cattle closed mostly higher watching corn, and waiting for direct business to develop. August live cattle closed $2.17 higher at $126.45 and October live cattle closed $2.90 higher at $131.90. August feeder cattle closed $.82 lower at $158.20 and September feeder cattle closed $1.80 higher at $167.30.
It was a quiet start to the week for direct cash cattle trade activity. Showlists are lower across all major feeding areas. Bids and asking prices have yet to surface. Look for significant trade volume to pick up as the week progresses.
At midsession at the Oklahoma National Stockyards, compared to last week feeder steers were $1 to $3 higher and feeder heifers were $3 to $6 higher.
