The director of USDA’s Farm Service Agency says the 2.8 million acres enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program are about 4 million below the enrollment target.
Zach Ducheneaux says despite Congress raising the CRP cap in the 2018 Farm Bill, there have been decreases in enrollment the past two years. In a news release, he expressed confidence that changes to the program made this spring will reverse that trend.
Of the nearly 3 million acres, 1.9 million are enrolled through General CRP and more than 897,000 acres are through Continuous Signup.
