A central Iowa farmer’s hopes for a bumper crop are drying up under late August heat.
Tim Bardole of Rippey says his corn and soybeans have looked remarkably good this season despite being on the dry side two years in a row.
“But this past week it started to really show how dry we are. The beans are shrinking and the corn, you see a lot of yellow husks and started going brown.”
He’s tempering yield expectations with little rain and temperatures above 90 forecast this week.
