Corn silage harvest is underway in southwest Minnesota.

Nathan Collins of Murdock says his crew started chopping Monday, about a week earlier than normal.

“We’re typically (beginning) around Labor Day, plus or minus a couple of days. But things have progressed a little earlier this year, attributable to the weather. Obviously it’s been a little bit drier and we’ve had some hot spells in there.”

He tells Brownfield it’s too early to get a handle on yield.
