A cow/calf farmer in north-central Iowa says he’s been on the edge of the drought all summer.
Brent Renner of Klemme uses a five-paddock pasture rotation.
“And every time we’re on number five it seems like, ‘oh boy is number one going to be ready to go back to next week’ because they’re going to have this puppy mowed off. It seems like we’ve always been on the brink, but it always gets just enough moisture to regenerate.”
He’s been supplementing grain and hay to make sure the cows stay in good condition.
