The combined U.S. and Canadian cattle and hog herds were smaller on July 1st, 2021 than July 1st, 2020.
The joint report from the USDA and Statistics Canada shows a 1% year to year decline in the combined cattle inventory, with lower moves in most of the major categories, except for milk cows and heifers that have calved, which were up 2%.
The combined hog and pig inventory was down 2%, with a decrease for the U.S.
