Legislation has been introduced in Congress that would require more use of low-carbon high-octane fuels such as ethanol and biodiesel.  Congresswoman Cheri Bustos of Illinois re-introduced the Next Generation Fuels Act Thursday, which didn’t get much traction in Congress last year.

Bustos says her bill would bring an environmental lens to biofuels production to increase demand while helping the climate.

The Next Generation Fuels Act is being praised by biofuels groups, corn growers, Farmers Union, and equipment manufacturers.  Lawmakers from several Midwestern states have already signed on to the bill.
