Arkansas farmers had nearly a whole week available for fieldwork. The USDA says precipitation was light and about 60% of soil is short to very short of moisture.
As of Sunday, 100% of corn was dented and 92% had reached maturity, both close to normal, while 38% is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 42%, with 73% of the crop rated good to excellent.
98% of soybeans are setting pods, 45% are coloring, 21% are dropping leaves, 12% are mature, and 4% of the crop is harvested, all slower than average, with 64% of beans in good to excellent shape.
