South Dakota corn and soybean conditions improved ahead of harvest amid rain last week. As of Sunday, 55% of corn was in fair to excellent condition. Forty-five percent of the crop is still rated poor to very poor. Corn dented and maturity are behind last year.
Sixty percent of soybeans are rated fair to excellent. Forty percent are rated very poor to poor. More than a third of the crop are dropping leaves, on pace with last year.
Sorghum condition is 11 percent very poor, 28 percent poor, 44 percent fair and 17 percent good.
