A pair of Midwestern farmers remain optimistic about the harvest season.

“We could have popcorn ready next week, so it’s coming,” says Mark McHarue, a central Nebraska farmer and Nebraska Farm Bureau President.

He tells Brownfield other crops like corn and soybeans are still two to three weeks away. “Central City things look good,” he says. “If you had water, I think the crops look real well.  We had some hail come through in late June on the east side of Central City that took some top off some crops, but stuff generally looks good and people are positive about harvest coming up and anxious to get going.”

Southwestern Nebraska farmer Kerry McPheeters says his crops benefited from late-season rains.
