House Speaker Nancy Pelosi remains optimistic a vote on the infrastructure bill is still possible after talks ran into early Friday morning.
Republican Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, a co-sponsor of the bipartisan bill, tells Brownfield if it’s unable to pass it’s a true sign of how partisan Washington has become.
“It shouldn’t be that way, it should be on the merits, does this make sense or not?” he says. “I think this bill really makes sense; we’ve got 69 votes for it in the United States Senate.”
Portman says if it does fail this week, he believes it will not be the end of the legislation.
