Rain across the nation’s mid-section will linger into Saturday, followed by the return of warm, dry weather. During the weekend and early next week, showers will shift into areas from the Mississippi Valley eastward. Five-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 2 inches or more along and east of a line from eastern Texas into the lower Great Lakes region.
In contrast, negligible precipitation will fall during the next 5 days across California, the Great Basin, the Northwest (except along the northern Pacific Coast), and the northern High Plains.
