A first-generation Nebraska farmer says corn yields are beating expectations despite some challenges during the growing season.
Michael Bergen of Henderson is harvesting his fifteenth crop and tells Brownfield there’s anywhere from 10 to 70 percent green snap in fields from a July storm. “Getting 90 to 100 mile-per-hour winds right before tassel time and pollinating really slowed down the growth a little bit,” Bergen says. “We’re maybe a little bit behind where we’d like to be.
