Additional Southeastern rainfall could total 1 to 2 inches before ending on Sunday, with higher amounts possible in the coastal Carolinas. Meanwhile, Midwestern showers should end during Friday. Farther west, the first in a series of storm systems will emerge from the Rockies during the weekend. The initial system should produce a stripe of late-week precipitation from the Great Basin and Intermountain West to the north-central U.S. A second storm will push a little farther to the south and east, delivering some rain from the central and southern Plains into the Midwest.
