Michigan’s governor has declared October as Farm to School and Agritourism month in the state.
October is also National Farm to School Month, recognizing the national program which connects communities with fresh, healthy food and local producers to change food purchasing and education practices at schools and childcare settings.
A recent USDA grant was awarded to the Michigan Department of Education to bring together partners and school foodservice directors and develop a series of Farm to School training videos on procurement, agriculture education, the Farm to School program, school gardens, and more.
