In honor of October Pork Month, the Illinois Pork Producers Association donated more than 1500 boxes of bacon to local food pantries.
The 2021 “Pass the Bacon” campaign reached more than 60 food pantries across the state in need of quality protein. 25 were randomly selected from public nominations on Facebook and 36 were nominated by their local legislator.
October is recognized as pork month because it marks the time when hogs were traditionally marketed.
