Pope Francis joined leaders from around the world over the weekend to draw attention to global hunger as part of World Food Day.
In a letter to the Director-General of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, Francis says there is a great paradox when it comes to food with more than three billion people lacking access and almost two billion overweight.
The pope outlined four areas within the food system that need action: in the field, at sea, at the table, and in reducing food waste.
