Downed corn is slowing harvest in parts of Minnesota.

University of Minnesota integrated pest management specialist Bruce Potter tells Brownfield drought stress, strong winds, and corn rootworm pressure have compromised stalk integrity.

“It’s tough going in a lot of these fields (and) taking a long time to get through them. And yields are, of course, depressed.”

He’s also concerned about volunteer corn being a problem next year in fields that sustained damage.
