The Federal Communications Commission has awarded more than $500 million to 19 states for rural broadband expansion.

This is the third round of funding through the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund which has awarded more than $1 billion for new broadband deployment.

States awarded include Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin, with Michigan and Georgia receiving the largest amounts in this round.
