Over the next 5 days, multiple storm systems will affect northern and central California and the Northwest. Some of the most significant precipitation (locally 10 inches or more) will fall across northern California, helping to establish high-elevation snowpack and resulting in meaningful drought relief. However, Western precipitation could also lead to flash flooding and debris flows, especially in areas where hillsides have been scarred by recent wildfires. Drought-easing precipitation should also fall in the northern Great Basin and from the Pacific Northwest to the western slopes of the northern Rockies.
