An Iowa Beef Extension educator is incorporating farm safety as part of his Beef Quality Assurance Plus certification program.
Patrick Wall says the decision to add it to the course came after his 13-year-old nephew was killed in a farming accident last year. “There’s a segment of Beef Quality Assurance for Emergency Action Planning,” he says. “I have incorporated our unfortunate situation into that program and actually teach farmers the importance of having an Emergency Action plan.”
He tells Brownfield everyday tasks on a farm can turn devastating very quickly, but having a plan in place can help save a life.
