The USDA says producers made less and paid more in September than in August.
The index of prices received was down 0.7% on the month, with declines in corn, soybeans, hogs, and strawberries canceling out gains in wheat, milk, lettuce, and broccoli.
The index of prices paid ticked 0.3% higher on increases for feeder pigs, LP gas, other machinery, and other services against decreases in feeder cattle, feed grains, hay and forages, and concentrates.
