Mild air will continue to shift eastward, with above-normal temperatures gradually replacing previously cool conditions across the Midwest and—by early next week—much of the South and East. Meanwhile, cool air arriving in the Pacific Coast States will not make much eastward progress, resulting in warmer-than-normal weather across much of the country. During the warm spell, meaningful precipitation will be scarce; in fact, mostly dry weather will prevail for the next 5 days throughout southern California, the central and southern Rockies, Southwest, Plains, Midwest, mid-South, and Northeast.
