Later Monday, an intensifying Pacific storm system will deliver widespread wind, rain, and high-elevation snow across northern California and the Pacific Northwest. By Tuesday, precipitation intensity will diminish as moisture spreads farther inland across the northern Rockies and southward into central California. At mid-week, the storm will emerge from the Rockies and re-intensify across the nation’s mid-section. As a result, widespread, mid- to late-week rain will occur from the eastern Plains to the Atlantic Seaboard, with storm totals of 1 to 2 inches or more possible in the upper Midwest and the northern Atlantic States.
