Turkey growers are feeling the pinch of higher feed costs.

Minnesota Turkey Growers Association executive director Brad Finstad says the industry “gobbles up corn and soybean meal left and right.”

“Last year’s numbers are over $255 million of added-value to the corn and soybean markets, so we’re not immune to the pricing. When we see the markets increase, it’s definitely an issue with the industry in regards to the profit margins.”

He tells Brownfield there have been ups and downs in 2021, but turkey growers are excited to celebrate Thanksgiving.
