A bill to ban neonicotinoids, paraquat and organophosphate pesticides has been re-introduced in the U.S. Senate by New Jersey Senator Cory Booker.

The Center for Food Safety supports the legislation and says it will protect children and farmworkers from harmful chemicals.

The bill aims to prevent the EPA from allowing “dangerous pesticides” to remain on the market indefinitely without review. It blames neonicotinoids for “the rapid decline of pollinators.”

It calls for a total ban on chlorpyrifos and another organophosphate saying they have been linked to “brain damage” in children.
