American Farm Bureau’s Thanksgiving dinner survey finds a basic Thanksgiving meal is up 14% in price this year.
AFBF Chief Economist Roger Cryan tells Brownfield Ag News, “In a lot of ways, it’s a pretty good deal. It’s just over $5 a head to feed your family of 10. It’s the highest ever but because prices trend upwards over time many years we have the highest ever.”
He says turkey is up the most, at 24% higher, while the rest of the basic meal is up 6.6 percent, brought on by pandemic-related supply chain issues and market factors.
