A co-author of legislation intended to improve fairness in the cattle markets says there’s one path forward for the bill.

Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley tells Brownfield the Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act needs to be a part of Livestock Mandatory Reporting reauthorization.

“Because there’s no way (Chuck) Schumer is going to give us time on the Floor of the United States Senate to get this done. So it’s necessary to get it done (through LMR).”

He says an extension of the mandatory reporting rule sunset September 30th along with a continuing resolution that was advanced to December 3rd.
