The USDA has started taking applications for more than $1-Billion in loans and grants for high-speed internet in rural areas. Ag Secretary Vilsack says another $2-Billion will be added to the ReConnect program from the newly passed bipartisan infrastructure law with those funds available in 2022.
Vilsack calls high-speed internet “the new electricity” – saying it must be “reliable, affordable and available to everyone.” He says the funding will “go a long way” toward reaching that goal in rural America.
