The USDA says producers made less and paid more in October than in September.
The index of prices received fell 1.7% on declines for corn, hogs, broiler chickens, and market eggs, which canceled out better returns for milk, sweet corn, lettuce, and broccoli.
The dairy index for October 2021 was up 7.1% from September, but down 1.5% from October 2020. The all-milk price was $19.70 per hundredweight, an increase of $1.30 on the month, but a decrease of $.30 on the year.
