A storm system will gradually intensify on the central Plains on Friday, affecting the Great Lakes region during the weekend. The storm produced varying amounts of snow in the West, with the heaviest from the Sierra Nevada to the western slopes of the central Rockies. Farther east, accumulating, late-week snow should fall in a narrow band from southeastern Wyoming to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Along the storm’s trailing cold front, Friday and Saturday rainfall totals could exceed an inch in parts of the eastern U.S.
