A northwest Iowa farmer is zeroing in on fertility as crop input prices soar.

Brent Johnson of Manson says he’ll be relying on technology to efficiently grow corn and soybeans next year.

“By implementing drones and imagery, understanding return on investment. Basically shaving down that input cost right to where we need it (and) finding those opportunities to add a bushel here or there. It really makes a difference.”

The newly elected president of Iowa Farm Bureau tells Brownfield he’s not planning to make dramatic changes despite fertilizer tripling in price.
