The USDA making 1.5 billion in Commodity Credit Corporation funding available to states and school districts to help school meal programs affected by the challenges of supply chain disruptions.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says, “It’s just basically an opportunity for us to provide resources to states to help defray the cost that school districts are now incurring by having to go to alternative suppliers and also providing opportunities as well to purchase product locally.”
One billion will go to schools to purchase food for meal programs.
