Leaders with the National Corn Growers Association and state affiliates have taken another step, requesting Mosaic company withdraw its request for hefty tariffs on fertilizer imports. The groups say that is what’s causing fertilizer supply shortages and skyrocketing prices for US farmers.
The US International Trade Commission imposed tariffs in March on Mosaic’s behalf. In a letter to Mosaic last week, corn leaders say the company is using the commission to manipulate the supply curve which is dictating prices for farmers.
