A sprawling Pacific storm system and a subsequent disturbance will deliver unsettled, showery conditions across the West. Five-day precipitation totals could exceed 5 inches in the Cascades, Sierra Nevada, and areas along and near the Pacific Coast as far south as northwestern California. Other areas of the West, excluding the southern Rockies, should receive light to moderately heavy precipitation. In contrast, dry weather should prevail through week’s end from the central and southern Plains to the middle and lower Mississippi Valley.
