A boost in sugar production allocations from the USDA will significantly help processors move through record crops.

The USDA is transferring allocations from beet processors with surplus allocations to those with deficit allocations to support the need for additional sugar supplies in the U.S. market because of Hurricane Ida and supply chain disruptions

Michigan Sugar Company has received a nearly 23 percent increase for the 2022 fiscal year — more than the other three processors receiving increases combined.  Minn-Dak Farmers Co-op also received an increase while allocations for American Crystal Sugar Company and Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Co-op were reduced.
