The president of Truterra says carbon payments shouldn’t be the sole motivator for adopting practices that sequester carbon.

Jason Weller says generating a carbon credit is difficult.

“It’s intense, data intensive, requires a lot of science and for a farmer sometimes it requires some significant practice changes,” he says. “That practice change, bottom line, has to pencil out.”

Instead, he says growers should take a whole-systems approach to implementing conservation practices on their operation.
