A Midwestern seed company is deploying farmers to help reduce transportation and delivery delays..
Mark Pieper is a regional agronomist with Indiana-based Beck’s seed company. “Instead of using some of the bigger firms to move your product, we use the local farmer and that helps us out quite a bit.”
He tells Brownfield farmers can help deliver product to avoid logistical issues. “There is a lot of win-win there. There is a lot of cargo trucks or dry beds in farmers’ yards and if we can get those wheels under then and it helps the farmer make a little more money and helps them spread out their income as well.”
Beck’s recently announced the company is expanding into Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota.
