Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures in most areas from the Pacific Coast to the High Plains, as well as the South, while cooler-than-normal conditions will prevail in the Great Basin and from the Midwest to the middle and northern Atlantic States.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather downwind of Lake Superior and across the lower Southeast, including much of the Gulf Coast region.
