Nebraska’s winter wheat crop is showing the impact of drought in the Plains.
The USDA says 39% of the state’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, a decline of 25% from the end of November, while 42% is called fair, a jump of 19%, and 19% is reported as poor to very poor, 6% higher.
About two thirds of the state is short to very short of subsoil and topsoil moisture, with little relief in sight.
