December was warmer than normal for much of Tennessee.
The USDA says that weather helped pasture and winter wheat conditions hold up relatively well, but mid-month tornadoes did damage or destroy homes, sheds, and equipment in some areas.
43% of Tennessee’s winter wheat crop is called good to excellent, 14% lower than the last update in late November, while 40% is in fair condition, 7% higher.
71% of cattle are in good to excellent shape and 92% of Tennessee has adequate to surplus hay and roughage.
