Unsettled weather will accompany a pair of disturbances racing across the central and northern U.S. The lead system currently emerging from the northern Plains will produce widespread snow across the upper Midwest, with the highest snowfall totals expected in the northern Great Lakes region. Meanwhile, the trailing low will produce a large swath of snow in the central and northern Rockies. This second low will sweep across the central Plains on Thursday before bringing a mix of rain and snow to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast by Friday.
