Several grocery chains and a food distributor have filed a complaint in northern California federal court against pork processing and some other companies saying they’ve conspired to control the pork industry and to raise prices for profit.
According to Law Street Media, Koger, Hy-Vee, Albertsons, Save Mart Supermarkets and U.S. Foods accuse the companies of conspiring between 2009 and 2018 to fix, increase, maintain and/or stabilize the price of pork sold to them.
