During the second half of the week, rain may linger across the Deep South and along the southern Atlantic Coast, with wintry weather—including snow, sleet, and freezing rain—possible at times along the northwestern edge of the precipitation shield. Areas targeted by wintry precipitation may include southern Texas (Thursday into early Friday) and the Carolinas (late Thursday into early Saturday). Five-day precipitation totals across the South could reach 1 to 2 inches.
