A slow-moving frontal boundary draped across the South will remain the focus for widespread precipitation into the weekend. Along the northwestern edge of the precipitation shield, periods of wintry precipitation (snow, sleet, and freezing rain) may cause travel disruptions.
Areas at particular risk for wintry weather include southern Texas (Thursday night into Friday) and the coastal Carolinas (Thursday night into early Saturday). Meanwhile, a few strong thunderstorms may occur across the lower Southeast, mainly on Friday in southern Florida.
