Drought in the U.S. Plains continues to have an impact on conditions in Kansas.

The USDA says 77% of Kansas’ topsoil and 72% of the subsoil are short to very short of moisture, both above the late December totals.

Just 30% of Kansas’ winter wheat crop is rated good to excellent, down 3% on the month and 13% on the year, with 31% called poor to very poor, up 6% from the previous month and 7% from this time last year.
