A warm start to 2022 for Indiana has generally given way to colder conditions.

The USDA says the average statewide temperature and precipitation are both a little bit below normal and the lack of snow cover in some areas is leading to concerns about stress for winter wheat.

64% of Indiana’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, steady with late December, while 27% is rated fair, up 1%.
